About Dhaval Patel — Founder of Zenful Spirit
My name is Dhaval Patel, and I’ve spent the better part of two decades exploring one question: how do we actually live with more presence, clarity, and peace? Not as an abstract idea — but as something real and usable, in the middle of a busy life.
Where It All Began
I was born and raised in India, where mindfulness wasn’t a wellness trend — it was woven into the rhythms of daily life. Sitting quietly, observing the breath, moving through the world with intention: these were things I absorbed long before I had words for them.
When I moved to Los Angeles, I found myself in one of the most stimulating — and distracting — cities on earth. The contrast was jarring. The pace was relentless. And like so many people navigating modern life, I felt the pull to constantly do more, achieve more, become more. For a while, I followed that pull.
Then I came back to what I already knew. Meditation. Stillness. The practice of simply being here.
What I’ve Learned (And Keep Learning)
Over the years, I’ve built a consistent meditation practice, studied mindfulness philosophy, explored yoga and breathwork, and read widely in psychology, neuroscience, and Eastern wisdom traditions. But more than any book or course, my real education has come from practice — from showing up every day and paying attention.
I’ve learned that the ego is a useful tool but a terrible master. I’ve learned that letting go isn’t passive — it’s one of the most active, courageous things a person can do. I’ve learned that growth doesn’t come from pushing harder; it comes from getting quieter.
These aren’t borrowed insights. They’re hard-won — tested against real frustration, real loss, and real life in Los Angeles.
Why I Started Zenful Spirit
I launched Zenful Spirit in 2016 because I couldn’t find the kind of writing I was looking for: honest, practical, and grounded in actual experience — not just theory. I wanted a space where mindfulness wasn’t watered down into feel-good platitudes, and where personal growth meant something deeper than productivity hacks.
Since then, I’ve published over 175 original articles on meditation, mindfulness, wellness, yoga, zen philosophy, and conscious living. Every piece is written from direct experience — what I’ve practiced, what’s worked, what hasn’t, and what I’m still figuring out.
This site is for people who are serious about the inner work — whether you’re just beginning a meditation practice or you’ve been on this path for years. My goal is simple: give you something real and useful every time you visit.
